The Annual MLK Day March in San Antonio, Texas

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of San Antonio's MLK Day March. The previous day was spent beautifying the community with murals, landscaping, and cleaning up the community for families to enjoy. The march began at M.L. King Academy, which is where I spend 60 hours of my life each week. Students honored MLK Jr. through praise dance, miming, stepping, and reciting his speeches. It was great to improve a community that I work in and be able to march with my students, their parents and the East side community of San Antonio. It was an honor to be recognized by the East side community as well as have the neighborhood cheer on the MLK marchers from their houses as we walked by. Definitely a day to remember.

Golf Tournament-Texas

Usually at work, I am explaining algebraic equations, stopping middle school gossip, or comforting a girl who broke up with her long time boyfriend of 3 days...But lucky me, I was chosen to take pictures at a golf tournament/fundraiser for work. Couldn't have been any more perfect. Unusually, Texas has a big deer population?? Mind you, living in Minnesota for 18 years and I rarely see deer, and in Texas it was like I had dropped into a deer holiday party.

Rainy Day at a New Orleans Cemetery

On my way to San Antonio, we took a little detour through New Orleans. Unfortunately, the rain was so ridiculous I wasn't able to explore Bourbon Street or taste any amazing food. :( BUT....I did however stop at this cemetery! I saw the cemetery as we driving on the highway and immediately got off the next exit and found myself in awe of the large monumental graves. Here are a few of my favorites that I captured. Enjoy!
